The ongoing patent feud between Apple and Samsung continues to heat up as Apple files suit in Samsung’s home country of South Korea.
If you have been keeping tabs, Apple fired the first salvo against Samsung back in April, claiming that the company copied its iPhone and iPad design in the Galaxy line of devices.
Shortly thereafter, Samsung fired back with patent infringement claims of its own in South Korea, Japan and Germany.
As part of the US claim, Samsung was forced to show Apple lawyers the unreleased Galaxy S2, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Infuse 4G, and DROID Charge. However, Samsung was recently denied a similar courtesy when they requested to see upcoming iPhone 5 and iPad 3 designs.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that Apple is one of Samsung’s largest components buyers.
There were recent rumors that Apple and Samsung execs have held meetings to resolve ther patent disputes, but news from Bloomberg regarding the new lawsuit in South Korea proves that is unlikely. The situation is only getting worse.
Both sides appear to have legitimate claims, but it will be interesting to see whether or not the fight will be harder to win for Apple on Samsung’s home turf.

The Institute’s head researcher claims the nation’s 4G network, based on technology called LTE Advanced, runs 40 times faster than the 3G network currently being used. LTE Advanced will let users enjoy high-quality content such as 3D games and HD videos on mobile equipment as they walk. To put it in perspective, today it takes your average South Korean 3G network user over 6 minutes to download a 700MB video file. South Korea’s new 4G network can download the same video in 9.3 seconds. LTE Advanced will be able to work with existing 2G and 3G networks, but isn’t set to roll out until 2014. When it does, South Korea expects to see an estimated $400 billion in technology royalties.
