Samsung announces Bada-powered Wave II, not quite a whole new Wave
We only just got our hands on the Wave S8500, but it looks like Samsung isn’t wasting any time in further expanding its Bada options — the company has just introduced the new and slightly improved Wave II. The biggest difference over the previous Wave, it seems, is a larger 3.7-inch WVGA SLCD screen, compared to a 3.3-inch AMOLED on its predecessor. Otherwise, you’ll get the same speedy 1GHz Hummingbird processor, the same LED flash-equipped 5-megapixel camera and, of course, the same Bada — although it does apparently add a new Swype-esque input method dubbed Trace. Look for this one to be available sometime in November (in Germany, at least) for a rather hefty €429, or about $590.
[Thanks, Keith]

Samsung (Bada-Powered) Wave to Launch in North and South America?
Samsung may be a little crazy to create their own OS when Android is free, powerful, and popular, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not at least a little curious about what the new OS may bring.
On that note, you may be interested to hear that the first of Samsung’s Bada-powered phones — the Samsung Wave 8500 — may be making its way over from Europe to come visit your hometown*.
Unwired Review have noticed that the Bluetooth SIG (the body that oversees Bluetooth standards and licensing) has recently approved the Samsung GT-S8500R and the GT-S8500M, mentioning that both should be available in North America. Further to this, the GT-S8500L is listed as being headed to South America.
Of course, this isn’t concrete evidence, but it seems likely.
To refresh your memory, the Wave has a 3.3″ 800 x 480 AMOLED screen, a 5.1MP camera capable of 720p video, and the now-standard WiFi, A-GPS, and (as stated earlier) Bluetooth.
It is worth noting that the phone’s operating frequencies will limit it to AT&T or T-mobile.
If you’re hungry for more, Unwired View also have a hands-on video of the phone in action.
*if said hometown is somewhere in North or South America

Samsung’s Bada-powered Wave coming in June, Not April

Is the world ready for yet another smartphone platform? Probably not – but it’s got until June to get prepped. According to Samsung, that’s when they’ll be launching the Wave, their first phone to be powered by Bada.
The good word comes after a handful of UK retailers started promising that Wave pre-orders would be filled in the next few weeks, implying that the handset would drop in April or May. Check out Samsung’s statement after the jump.
The comment from a Samsung Spokesperson, which was sent to TechRadar this morning: “The Samsung Wave is not currently available for sale in the UK, but we look forward to its launch in June 2010, at which time details of tariffs and stockists will be released by our operator partners.”
So what do you think? Are you dying to ride the Wave?
