BlackBerry outage spreads to North America (Update:They’re back, sort of)

RIM-Research In Motion-BlackBerry-Bold-Sprint

The BlackBerry service outage that affected Europe and Africa yesterday, has now spread to the United States and Canada

As reported earlier, BlackBerries around the world have been suffering from major service outages. At the time, RIM made a statement on the issue, yet network outages have now spread to North America, causing frustrations for people who rely on these smartphones for business and personal communications.

The company confirmed that a bug on a Blackberry server was responsible for knocking millions offline on Monday, and the Canadian smartphone maker elaborated on Tuesday that the continued interruption was caused by a core switch failure and a backlog of e-mails.

The outage – and RIM’s slow reaction to it – have fanned rising dissatisfaction with its co-chief executives, Jim Balsillie, and Mike Lazzaridis.

Critics have long been calling for a major shake-up, saying the top executives have let the company fall far behind Apple, Google, and Microsoft in a changing market.

As far as the outage itself goes, it’s hugely problematic that RIM, besides lacking communication about the cause of the problem, hasn’t been able to end the outage just yet. It’s also taking a serious toll on the company’s reputation.

As of today, no firm timeline has been issued as to when the outage will be resolved. For RIM’s sake, lets hope soon.

Update: We just got word that BlackBerry services (besides web browsing in Europe) are going back up across the world! I have to say, I am quite suprised. Hooray!

Broetry: More Signs of the Dumbing Down of America

Broetry makes me desire to ache puppy

This yore period, I was drive location around Barstow on the border of the tract when suddenly the NPR carnival on my radiocommunication made me privation to veering into a pitahaya. Have you ever seed across thing so idiotic it brand you neediness to angrily screeching into the noonday star?

The hostess of All Things Considered was interviewing a “bro” named  Brian McGackin–the writer of the authority, Broetry. Do you know what “broetry” is? It’s a book of “broems.” Are you already wanting to twinge size needle into your optic or should I explain statesman?

“Broetry is poesy for dudes,” Brian McGackin writes in the exordium to his new aggregation of poems. “It’s verse for people WHO gentleman’t variety verse.”

Shades of frat organization shenanigans, how come when peoples opportunity things variety, “It’s verse for peoples who gentleman’t care poetry,” the poetry in turn just end up being manifest crappy? Hasn’t that whole bro/bromance thing already been played out? What I deprivation is some broetry for peoples WHO don’t form broetry.

Yes, these are poems for people who kind to publication parallels to Greek tragedy into episodes of Jersey Shore. Broetry instance:

A miss, attractive, stood near
Working up the nervus to talking to her
3 More Jello shot will aid

I guess what was lacking in modern verse was statesman grade-fiving after poems. Another Broetry illustration:

Is this poetry for dudes or douchebags? Boetry makes me want to ache puppies.
