Droid Incredible now getting big OTA update with 720p recording?
That rumored software update for HTC’s Droid Incredible is apparently now hitting some devices, and it’s a doozy — it’s impressive enough, in fact, that it darn near gives you a new phone (short of Froyo, anyway). The headline features are the addition of Verizon’s mobile hotspot app (for which you’ll pay $20 a month for 2GB in order to use) and 720p video recording, a feature that’s becoming virtually standard on top-tier smartphones this year — including Sprint’s EVO 4G, which essentially shares the Droid Incredible’s camera hardware. You’ll also get the Skype app integrated and some other Verizon-related software goodies plus a sweet new boot animation, so overall, you’re definitely going to want to accept this update once you’re phone notifies you that it’s available. Don’t be afraid — remember, it’s the evil Droid eye that you really need to fear.

Apple offers free case for iPhone 4, refunds for early bumper purchases
Today Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs discussed some of the Apple iPhone 4 reception issues. Jobs said that the antenna reception was responsible for less than 1 dropped call per 100, and discussed mostly the reporting of signal strength bars rather than actual signal attenuation. However, he did note that Apple will refund anyone who purchased a bumper for the iPhone 4 early, and will provide free cases to anyone who wants them until September 30th. Anyone who is unhappy with the iPhone 4 can return an undamaged unit within 30 days for a full refund without a restocking fee.

Chump Dump: Get Rid Of “Friends” On Twitter
You never know where you are going to see something innovative—even right here the heart of the “Sili-corn Valley” that is Central Ohio. This week, I met a gentleman by the name of Dan Rockwell at the local Mobile Monday gathering, and we had a short conversation about his company’s latest mobile app called Chump Dump.
The somewhat irreverent concept is both funny and serious; gain points for ceasing to follow people on twitter. The app recalls Crispin Porter’s Whopper Sacrifice campaign for unfriending people on Facebook, but has a much purer and utilitarian result in mind—clean up the list of people you follow on Twitter using game mechanics, actual metrics and crowdsourced conversation. As funny or rebellious as the app seems on the surface, when you get down to it, its goal is functionally sound and it gets people to ask the real question “why am I following this chump on Twitter?”
