HTC Glacier, LED, and Vision among next round of vague codenames?

Start that wild imagination of yours running, because you’re going to need it to make sense of this little tidbit. A tipster who claims (and gives us visual evidence as proof) that he was able to root out HTC product names like Incredible and Legend months before release on some sort of internal component bidding site has sent us a new shot showing three names we haven’t heard before: “Glacier,” “LED,” and “Vision.” Vision is listed with “TMO” next to it, suggesting it’s coming to T-Mobile — though we’ve no idea whether that’s referring T-Mobile’s European or American branch, which typically operate with virtually zero overlap. Glacier sounds like a phone that’s either really slow, really cold, or is rapidly disappearing due to environmental forces beyond HTC’s control, and LED sounds like… well, Light Emitting Diode. Yep, your guess is as good as ours.
[Thanks, foil]

Apple’s international iPad App Store is now open
Apple has opened its international iPad App Store ahead of its May 28 hardware launch. Users of American iPads in foreign countries have been able to use apps for some time now, but only through Apple’s iTunes application. It should be noted that the international iPad App Store is only partially functional at this time and is missing some of Apple’s official iPad apps like iBooks and iWork.

Google Now Activating 100,000 Android Devices A Day — 50,000 Android Apps

Today at Google I/O Vic Gundotra made a big revelation. Last year, Google was activating 30,000 Android phones a day. The past February, that number jumped to 60,000. Today, Google is now activating over 100,000 Android phones a day.
Android was the second best-selling smartphone this quarter, Gundotra says. They are only behind RIM — and yes, ahead of that other rival. Gundotra also pointed out the stat from AdMob that Android was first in terms of web and app usage among smartphones.

That’s all I want, really. Just a cozy little spot somewhere underneath the D-pad. Or if all that construction turns you off, maybe you’d prefer a penthouse condo atop a PS3 highrise: More »

Nothing black about these berries: T-Mobile outs fuchsia Curve 8520, white Bold 9700
We kind of already had a hunch on this one, but it’s totally official now: the “fuchsia” version of RIM’s BlackBerry Curve 8520 is now totally real and available on T-Mobile for $49.99 on a two-year deal (interestingly, you can get either the black or the white versions for free, so you’d better really want the red). Alongside that, the Bold 9700 is getting repainted in white — a trick we’ve seen before with the original Bold 9000 — on May 26 for $129.99 on contract. Oh, and that Bold will come loaded with BlackBerry OS 5.0.586, an update that’s now available to existing customers as well. High fives all around — at least until 6 drops, right?
