Nokia X2 welcomes Series 40 to the Xseries fold
A number of Series 40 devices were branded with Nokia’s “XpressMusic” label back in the day, so why not Xseries, too? Well, Nokia must be on the same page, because it has just announced the X2 candybar without a trace of smartphone DNA to its name. The relatively low-end phone clocks in with a 5 megapixel cam with flash, 2.2-inch QVGA display, Ovi Store and Facebook support, dual loudspeakers, integrated FM radio, dedicated music keys, and microSD expansion up to 16GB (32GB would’ve been nice, but considering the scarcity and overwhelming price of said cards, it really doesn’t matter too much in practice). The 13mm-thick piece is due before the end of June for €85 ($113), which is a heck of a value by our rough math.

iPhone HD to Tout 5MP Camera?
Despite the recent revelation and tear-down of the next-gen iPhone, there are still many questions surrounding the device (just less than there were before…).
One of those questions concerns the camera in the upcoming device. We know that there is a flash on it, but what of the resolution?
Well, according to The Chosun, LG Innotek have ramped up production of a high-quality 5MP sensor for the next iPhone.
This comes as a contradiction to reports last December that OmniVision — current suppliers of iPhone CMOS sensors — would supply a 5MP variant for the next iPhone, but, so what? Either way, it looks like the next iPhone will have a 5MP camera.
And damn well it should, too. This is the first year that the iPhone is faced with serious competition, so I wouldn’t doubt that Apple will finally bump the camera specs to match other phone manufacturers. And I don’t doubt they will.

Sagem Puma Phone Passes FCC Tests; Supports Solar Power Charging
Back at CES 2010, Sagem rocked the audience, by showing the innovative Puma Phone, a sporty device that comes with support for solar charging. Now, we’ve just learned that the handset has passed the FCC tests, so it should reach the US market soon enough.
Sagem Puma Phone features a 2.8 inch touchscreen display, with a 240 x 320 pixel resolution, a 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash, a front facing camera, a media player and a GPS. As far as the sporty feats are concerned, the device packs a pedometer, GPS tracker and a stopwatch.
The FCC tests performed on the phone have shown that it supports GSM bands 850, 900, 1800 and 1900, plus WCDMA bands I and VIII. This means that the device won’t get 3G coverage in the States, which is bad news for potential users. Meanwhile, we learn that his solar-powered unit is scheduled for an April release in Europe, or what’s left of April, anyway.
